Basair’s Cessna 152 (VH-HCE) crashes after take off at Bankstown

It’s being reported that VH-HCE, a Cessna 152 from Basair, has crashed after take-off at Bankstown airport.

Both pilot and passenger are reported to have exited the aircraft safely after it came down.

The Cessna (shown left) was reportedly found upside down in a field adjacent to Nancy Ellis Leebold Drive close to the airport.

  1. I flew this aircraft 4 times before the accident… one of them was x-wind assessment. That was around a year ago… it is sad to hear an aircraft you used to fly has crashed.
